With extreme heat impacting communities across British Columbia, the Chilliwack School District is sharing information from our partners.
Find tips on how to stay cool and where to cool down in Chilliwack, visit the City of Chilliwack's website. Air-conditioned facilities where families can get a break from the heat include libraries and the leisure centres. The local library also offers literacy programs for kids so check them out while you're there!
Learn about keeping yourselves and your loved ones cool with information from Fraser Health. Those particularly at risk during extreme heat include people living with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or respiratory disease, people who have a disability, and infants and young children.
Prepared BC's Household Preparedness Guide helps families plan for extreme heat events. Heat stroke is an emergency. Call 911 or your local emergency number if you are caring for someone who displays symptoms, then take immediate action to cool them down while waiting for help to arrive.
Find local extreme heat resources from the Summer Heat Response Working Group including the locations of support services and locations of drinking fountains.
