Information on Watson Road Construction

As families and staff are likely aware, there is a construction project along Watson Road that may impact commutes to and from schools in the fall. 

The Chilliwack School District is sharing some information from the City of Chilliwack so that our school communities know what to expect when students return to school next week.

Watson Road Construction

Please allow a few extra minutes for travel, particularly during the first few days of school as families settle back into their routines. Families should be aware that the wide gravel shoulder on Watson Elementary has been replaced by curb and pathway; there is no longer room to pull over and park there. Please use Watson Elementary, Glenmore, Arlington, Garrison, Sappers, Matsqui or Wilkins as drop off locations instead.

What to expect

Lane closures will not be permitted within 200 metres of Watson Elementary before 9 am. Please note that traffic control may be present further east along Watson Road in the morning. 

Expect alternating lane closures along the corridor during afternoon pick-up periods. Be prepared for possible delays.

Pathways closest to Watson Elementary school will be open beginning on the first day of school.

Flaggers will be present throughout the corridor, and if you have any questions about the work zones, please feel free to speak with them. For your safety, do not enter active construction areas or cross caution tape unless specifically directed to do so.
