Committees

Students, parents, guardians, caregivers, staff, First Nations, Rights Holders, Inuit, Métis, community members and organizations are important members of our education community and partners in learning with the Board of Education. We value the dedication and contribution of community members, parents, and students to Advisory and Working Committees. 

Current Vacancies

Recruitment for committees typically takes place near the beginning of the school year. Committee terms vary. 

We are currently recruiting community members for:

Committee Descriptions and Schedules 

Accessibility Advisory Committee

The Accessibility Advisory Committee provides guidance on the development, implementation and review of the District’s Accessibility Plan. The Committee follows the Accessible British Columbia Act and the principle “Nothing About us, without us"; ensures the Chilliwack School District (the “District”) is accessible and welcoming; and, helps build an inclusive school system. The goal is to support people with disabilities in their learning and personal growth.

  • 2025/2026 Accessibility Advisory Committee meets at 3:30pm on:
    • November 12 (New member orientation)
    • November 26
    • January 28
    • April 22
    • June 17

Advisory Committee for Inclusive Education 

The Advisory Committee for Inclusive Education mandate as a working committee is to support inclusive education by identifying current issues and engaging in dialogue and collaborative problem solving:

  • Build upon the work that is currently underway within the district and across the province
  • Ensure alignment and collaboration across key policy/program areas within the Ministry of Education
  • Alignment of work being done by key external sectors or community partners
  • Identifying strategies to share knowledge or guidance across the district.

Status: Recruiting parent representatives directly through schools. 

Audit Working Committee 

The Audit Working Committee assists the Board in fulfilling its financial oversight responsibilities by monitoring and reviewing the risk, internal control and governance processes that have been established in Board policy. The committee add value by helping the Borad ensure that good judgement has been exercised in the financial decision making and is advisory in nature, reporting directly to the Board through its Chair.

Status: currently recruiting up to two community members with financial literacy. Apply now.

Budget Advisory Committee

The Board of Education values consultation as an important part of budget development and monitoring. The Board also recognizes and accepts its responsibility to approve the annual budget. The Budget Advisory Committee is advisory in nature and reports directly to the Board through the chair of the committee.

Education Policy Advisory Committee

The Education Policy Advisory Committee (EPAC) mandate is to advise the Board on matters related to education policy under Policies 200 – Partner & Community Relations, and 300 – Students, Instruction & Programs. The committee is advisory in nature and reports directly to the Board through the chair of the committee. The committee may seek the advice of other resources and expertise in the conduct of its work.
